Fast adaption of E.coli to the invironment in the gut of gnothobiotic mice: Frontloading indeed

I don't have time to blog detailed on the following article:

Dissecting the genetic components of adaptation of E. coli to the mouse gut Giraud A, Arous S, Gaboriau-Routhiau V, De Paepe M, Bambou JC, et al. PLoS Genetics, e2.eor doi:10.1371/journal.pgen.0040002.eor
Still, I want to recommend this article, especially to those who beleave that random mutation and natural selection can not produce novelties. The observed adaption is the result of single point mutations in the two-component signal transduction system EnvZ/OmpR. I wonder how Michael Behe would interpret these data. And what about DaveScot and his fellow frontloading proponents? Indeed this really is frontloading:

unfortunately not in the sense DaveScot beleave it is.
